Employees who use public
transportation participate in TRIP
by purchasing Transit Vouchers with pre-tax dollars.
They use these Transit Vouchers to purchase fares
cards or passes. Public Transportation providers in most major U.S.
cities participate in the Transit Voucher program.
For example, in Chicago:
We are currently working
with clients in Detroit, Washington D.C. and New York City and are
adding more cities each month. If you have employees in other cities,
we’ll determine if Transit Vouchers are available
in that city.
Here’s how the
Transit Vouchers work.
| Employees
elect pre-tax payroll deductions of $20 to $100 a month. |
| AMG
receives the payroll deduction register by the 15th of each
month. |
| AMG
processes payroll data and mails vouchers to employees’ homes
no later than the 24th of the month for next month’s use. |
| Employees
use the voucher to buy fare cards or passes of equal
or greater value. Vouchers are not redeemable for cash. |
That's it. That's all
there is to paying for commuting costs on a pre-tax basis.
